About NCC at Islamiya
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) program at Islamiya High School was established in the year 1966 and has since remained a proud symbol of discipline, service, and physical excellence for our institution. Our NCC unit, recognized as 215/JD NCC Troop, functions under the Junior Division (JD) and Junior Wing (JW) category and is exclusively available for high school students of 8th and 9th standards.
Open to both boys and girls, the NCC program provides students with a structured platform to develop qualities of leadership, team spirit, discipline, patriotism, and physical fitness—key elements that prepare them for future roles in society, defense services, or civil leadership.
Leading with Discipline: NCC Officer in Charge
Mr. Mohammed Rafiq B. Belgaonkar, the Chief Officer of NCC at Islamiya High School, has been a pillar of strength and discipline for our cadets. With a deep understanding of NCC training protocols and years of experience in shaping young minds, he leads the 215/JD Troop with passion and commitment.
Under his leadership, students receive structured guidance, participate actively in camps and drills, and are motivated to uphold the highest standards of integrity and patriotism. His approachable nature, strict discipline, and inspiring mentorship have made him a respected figure among cadets and faculty alike.
Eligibility & Enrollment
NCC training is offered to students currently enrolled in:
- 8th Standard
- 9th Standard
Interested students must meet basic physical fitness and discipline requirements to be selected. The enrollment process is conducted at the beginning of each academic year, with limited seats available.
Total Cadet Capacity:
- JD (Junior Division) Boys: 75 Cadets
- JW (Junior Wing) Girls: 25 Cadets
- Total Strength: 100 Cadets
The course duration is two years, after which cadets are eligible to appear for the 'A' Certificate Examination conducted by the NCC Board, Delhi.
Objectives of NCC Training
The NCC program at Islamiya High School is designed with the following key objectives:

- To prepare youth for possible future participation in the Indian Armed Forces

Training Curriculum
The NCC training spans across two academic years and follows a well-structured syllabus prescribed by the NCC Directorate. It includes both theoretical knowledge and practical field training.
Key components include:
- NCC Drill – Marching, formations, salutes, and ceremonial practice
- Physical Training – Warm-ups, group exercises, obstacle courses, and endurance building
- Rifle Shooting – Basics of safety and marksmanship (subject to camp participation and approvals)
- Map Reading & Field Craft – Introduction to terrain navigation and basic survival skills
- First Aid – Emergency response and care training
- Civil Defense Awareness – Understanding roles in emergencies and disaster response
- Classroom Sessions – History of NCC, military customs, ranks, and uniforms
NCC Camps & Activities
Participation in Annual Training Camps (ATC) and combined activities is an essential and exciting part of the NCC journey. Our students regularly attend:
- ATC (Annual Training Camp) – A 10-day camp where cadets live, train, and compete with other school cadets from the region
- Firing Practice – Under proper supervision, students learn the basics of rifle handling and participate in firing drills
- Cultural & Literary Activities – Group songs, patriotic skits, elocution, and essay writing competitions
- Social Service Activities – Cleanliness drives, tree plantation, awareness rallies, and blood donation awareness campaigns
- Parade Competitions – Participation in school and public Republic Day and Independence Day events
These events promote a well-rounded experience and instill confidence, leadership, and community awareness in cadets.
NCC 'A' Certificate
Upon successful completion of the 2-year training, cadets become eligible to receive the prestigious NCC 'A' Certificate, awarded by NCC Headquarters, Delhi. This certificate is not only a symbol of achievement but also provides:
- Additional weightage in Armed Forces recruitment
- Preference in police and paramilitary service exams
- Value-add for college admissions and job interviews
